Sugarbacon Proper Kitchen is a must visit on the McKinney Square. We celebrated my birthday in style thanks to their amazing front house manager Herman Benefield and the unique & talented Chef Don Flores. We wanted a personal experience which Herman expertly assisted in crafting as we planned a menu just for the occasion. The tomahawk steaks were the star of the meal - expertly seasoned and perfectly medium-rare. We loved our wait staff who were knowledgeable of the menu, but also fun and engaging. Did I mention we ordered all of the desserts? YUM. Give them a call for your next event, or drop in for a hand-crafted cocktail. Sugarbacon Proper Kitchen will not disappoint.

My husband and I were in town for my birthday and stumbled upon SugarBacon. It was a great place to sit at the bar and catch the Longhorns game while having delicious cocktails and food. Ben and Matt were extremely busy at the bar but were great at keeping up the pace, and Herman was super knowledgeable about the wine selection and didn't hesitate to help me find one I'd enjoy. We can't wait to come back!!!

The staff was amazing and knowledgeable. I always appreciate an honest opinion when trying to decide between 2 entrees. Had the shrimp and grits (which I was told was great but they were working on the presentation) and he was spot on! Good dish but plated awkwardly, shrimp separate from the grits and shrimps had the heads and tails on. Not ideal when on a date or for ladies who have fancy manicures. Great selection, awesome cocktails, and lively atmosphere.

My husband and I have never had a bad experience at Sugarbacon. The restaurant closed for a bit and is now under new ownership. Sometimes this can be a death sentence for a restaurant. In this case, though, new management has brought new life into it and elevated already delicious dishes to even greater heights.
When you stop in you must try the namesake dish (pictured)! It’s made of house smoked pork belly, ancho BBQ, grilled watermelon, B&B pickles. Also. don’t miss the cornbread. It’s a little party of flavor in your mouth!
And for anyone concerned about dining in during COVID, rest assured they are taking all safety precautions seriously and everyone handling food is always wearing a mask.

I can’t believe I’ve lived here for almost 2 years and have slept on Sugarbacon. We ate there today for the first time. Wow. The actual sugarbacon was amazing. Salmon sandwich was really great. The grilled cheese was incredibly tasty. The pork sandwich is probably the best in the city other than Hutchins. The truffle fries were also great. Even my two kids’ hot dog and Mac and cheese were a cut above. Definitely not a throw away kids menu. We’ll be back for sure.

Really enjoyed my experience. I had a white sangria - very good! My salmon and Brussel sprouts were excellent. My husband had the special - Mahi Mahi with a mango salsa. Made me wish I ordered that! He also enjoyed a flight of whiskey, which was unique. We will definitely be back.

Went here on a slow Monday night and had the old fashioned, the Tenderloin with parm spinach and Mac and cheese with bread pudding for dessert. The old fashioned, really made well, very well balanced. The entree: while I wasn’t the biggest fan of the spinach the steak was cooked perfectly to order and I loved the Mac and cheese. Was pretty pricey but when you’re going off menu it’s expected, would definitely go back.

From our server, Shannon, to the amazing food, it was a lovely meal! Ribeye was perfectly seasoned. I know it sounds strange, but let's talk creamed spinach with bacon and parmesan. This could possible be the most ahhhhmazing thing I've ever eaten! Service was excellent, food was beyond excellent. Pricey, but worth every penny considering the food and the service. We had lunch here on a Saturday. We sat on the patio. It was the perfect atmosphere. Our server was excellent. The food was amazing especially the Sugarbacon appetizer. All 5 of us had different items and they were all delicious. We had a wide variety of people from ages 11-87 and everyone loved this place. They even provided a birthday dessert free of charge. It’s pricey but worth it! Great addition to the McKinney Square!!!

Jackie (our server) was absolutely amazing! Her and and her fiancé were awesome and inspiring people and we enjoyed meeting them. The food was fantastic, in my opinion. I knew the place was pricey because I googled it prior to going. The atmosphere is cool, the patio is great, and the food was delicious. I absolutely recommend ordering their namesake, the sugar bacon. It is an appetizer and it was so dope. My wife had a drink called a Country Grammar and yeah, I recommend that as well. I would definitely recommend this place and I will definitely be going again in the near future.

I love Sugarbacon! It is a wonderful place for date night, girls night out, lunches or a large group in their private room! Best damn meal from drinks to the food. I had a delicious old fashioned made with tequila. For our appetizer we had the tater tots and the sugarbacon both were awesome. For the main meal I had the brisket enchiladas with the jalepino and bacon mac and cheese. The enchiladas were good but the mac and cheese blew it out of the boat. The only complaint I've got is that they took a while to get us our check and they packaged the leftover together instead of separate for the three of us. Over a great place and only a few buildings away from a pretty cool bar.

Last night was our first visit to Sugarbacon. We loved everything! We started with the house made tater tots. They are beyond delicious! I had shrimp and grits for dinner. Being a girl from the south, all I can say is OMG! They were fantastic! My husband had the NY Strip steak with creamed spinach and jalapeño mac and cheese. He loved it all. As for our beverages, I had Country Grammar and my husband had the Barrel Aged Old Fashion! They were delicious! We finished our night with the Brownie with ganache, ice cream a a nut brittle. It was so good! We will definitely be back, Sugarbacon! Thanks for a great dinner!

We had a bad experience during restaurant week at SugarBacon, and after our feedback the GM and Head Chef reached out RIGHT away inviting us back for a second try (on the house). The appetizers, meals, sides, desserts & drinks surpassed our expectations. The wait staff and management were MORE than accommodating. I had been recommended Sugar Bacon by a few friends since moving to McKinney a year ago. Our server Alysia was 10/10; professional, informative (when asked upon the different ingredients and styles of cooking etc) and she generally made us feel extremely welcome and valued as customers. Our lunch was extremely delicious. I had the cheese melt s/w and soup, my friend had the veggie burger- both tasted fresh and made with excellent ingredients. Alysia asked us if we wanted to start with the Sugar Bacon � starter which we did, I was so impressed I took another portion home with me! All in all I will highly recommend Sugar Bacon to my friends. Excellent food, excellent service and an Excellent space to dine.

While we waited for them to arrive, we sat in the bar and enjoyed cocktails and the pork belly appetizer, think elegant pulled pork sandwich. Very yummy! My cocktail was their modern manhattan-what a yummy way to start the evening. Our friends arrived and we moved to our table. Let me just say everyone we met from the hostesses, to the bartenders and our wait staff were just awesome. Friendly, courteous and respectful, quickand accommodating. I had the pan roasted chicken-I like it falling off the bone tender and it was without being dry. My husband had the flank steak that he said he liked. Our friends had the salmon and the ribeye, both really liked their meals. It was a very nice evening and didn't feel rushed one bit. We will return to Sugarbacon again. 👍👍👍👍👍

Amazing restaurant! The service was excellent and the food was out of this world good! Our server Raphael was very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. He is a top notch server and made us feel right at home. I split the long bone 18oz ribeye sliced with my girlfriend, per Raphael's suggestion. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare with a nice char on the outside. The sides were amazing as well. My favorites were the green chili and bacon hominy and the Brussels sprouts. The sugarbacon appetizer is a must have. Wine pairing was on point. The cantaloupe cocktail was refreshing and delicious. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. It's a bit of a drive, but definitely worth it! I will be back for sure!

This is my favorite restaurant in town. We had our wedding dinner here a year ago, and returned tonight to celebrate our one year anniversary. We plan on going back each year--a great tradition! It's that good.

Great atmosphere. Great wait staff. Hardly no wait for Friday night. Only gave 4 stars because my meal wasn't that great. I had the brisket enchiladas. Way to sweet and the rice was overloaded with cilantro. Other than I will go back and try other options.

So, long story short, had an awesome dinner and then when we went to leave, our car was blocked between 2 cars in the parking lot (the lines are super unclear, so easy mistake to make). We went in and told the manager and she had every server ask their table if they drove a certain car blocking us in. She handled the situation very well and even offered drinks on them while we waited for someone to move their car. We were finally able to maneuver our way out of the parking lot thanks to the manager and other staff at Sugarbacon. You can tell she really cared about the situation and was persistent on helping us out. Great food, great staff, great manger!

Had one of the best dining experiences I've had in years. Lara's service was excellent and the floor manager Daniel went above and beyond. We are from Oklahoma and we had tried one of the beers they had on tap during a trip to Fort Worth a few months ago and wanted to know where to buy it locally to take home. The floor manager went out of his way to verify a local store had it and let us know how much later they were open. People like this are a throne back to the way customer service should be.

Great food selection. Pan roasted chicken was delicious and my friends raved about their grilled cheese. Attentive wait staff. No wait on a Friday night. Loved the atmosphere! Definitely going again!
