Nothing says summer quite like a refreshing glass of rosé. Top it off with a perfect, spacious patio while breaking bread among good friends, and you have the recipe for complete summer bliss.

Join us Friday, June 16th at the Dallas location of Sugarbacon to celebrate the release of the new 2016 Barrymore by Carmel Road Rosé of Pinot Noir. A collaboration between celebrity Drew Barrymore and Carmel Road winemaker Kris Kato, this wine is a true partnership between two families with rich California roots.

The new rosé was expertly created from 100% Pinot Noir grapes that were fermented in stainless steel, producing a flowery, light wine with citrus aromas.

“But wait, I thought Pinot Noir was a red wine!” This common misconception calls for a quick aside. Did you know that almost any red grape varietal can be used to make white wine? Red wines get their color from sustained contact with grape skins, so if you separate the skins from the juice immediately after being pressed, you get white wine. Leave the skins a little longer, and you get rosé. Even longer? You’ll get that big, bold, tannic red wine that you know and love.

It’s safe to say that winemaking is as much art as it is science, which may be why this new rosé speaks to our hearts and minds in tandem. The sustainably-farmed vineyards at Carmel Road, where the grapes are grown, are located along the foothills of the Santa Lucia Mountains in Monterrey County California. The climate there allows the grapes to ripen slowly, which gives them more complex flavors. Monterrey is now known as one of the premiere growing regions in California.

“My Barrymore by Carmel Road Rosé of Pinot Noir is a delicate wine with floral and light citrus aromas. Delicate red fruit flavors with hints of stone fruit and blood orange intertwine with bright, mouthwatering acidity, leading to a crisp and vibrant finish. Irresistibly refreshing…” – Drew Barrymore, Winemaking Partner

Swing by Friday until 6PM for a Rosé Happy Hour featuring the new 2016 Barrymore by Carmel Road Rosé of Pinot Noir.
